Louise Dunham | Managing Director | Placement Solutions
Tell us about your business:
Placement Solutions is a Melbourne-based niche recruitment firm specialising in in-home childcare, also known as nannies, as well as household management. All of our carers have at least three years of experience in childcare, are trained in first-aid, and have a ‘Working with Children Check’. Most importantly, they must have great references and be fantastic, proactive childcarers.
Our government-approved agency has been assisting parents for 25 years and we never forget that it is an honour to be invited into your home to care for your family. We also offer additional cleaning, ironing and household management services to busy working people.
Placement Solutions was established in 1998 and is a provider of the DEEWR approved in-home care scheme that offers childcare rebates (both Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate) to eligible families.

What's been your most outstanding business achievement?
Being recognised for the work we have done to improve our industry: I served on the National Steering Committee in 2007 that wrote the Interim Standards for In Home Care used to set quality guidelines within the in-home childcare sector; then in early 2013 I was the first person outside of the U.S. to be appointed to the board of the International Nanny Association (INA) and was awarded with an INA Service Award Pin recognising 25 years of dedication to the in-home childcare industry.
What are your top 3 networking tips?
- Always carry a business card and make sure that card easily identifies your line of work.
- Follow up with a call or email after you make a new contact within three days.
- Be genuinely interested in what the other person has to say and what their story is rather than thinking about what you’ll say next or how you can talk about your own business.
What's been your most successful marketing progression strategy?
Have an opinion and voice it; if you truly believe and practise what you say, even those who disagree will acknowledge your sincerity.
What can't you live without?
Coffee and my iPad mini. I can be wired in even when not at my desk and get most of my creative work done outside of the office and in an anonymous coffee shop!
What value and benefit have you or your business gained by being a WNA Member?
I love the magazine especially but the online tips are also great.
My Member 2 Member Offer:
