3 Instagram Stats to Convince the Non-Believers

Business By Social

Business owners tell me that the reason they don’t use Instagram is because they don’t have time for it.

As Instagram is as much a marketing tool as a photo-sharing app, what I’m hearing is that they don’t have time for marketing.

And that’s a real shame because to ignore Instagram is foolish, particularly as research shows just how effective Instagram is in driving customer engagement and brand awareness.

So here are 3 insightful stats that will convince you to invest time marketing on Instagram:

Stat #1: It has the highest engagement rate of any social media platform.

A study conducted by Forrester Instagram posts generate a per-follower engagement rate of 4.21% which is higher than any other social media platform. Followers are 58 times more like to engage with a brand on Instagram than Facebook and 120 times more likely than Twitter.

Benefit to your business: You can expect high audience engagement on Instagram, particularly if you are using the tips I described in my last article.

Stat #2: Higher organic reach than Facebook.

Organic reach on Instagram has grown 200% since 2012 compared with a 60% drop for Facebook. This is predominantly due to Facebook’s algorithm change which has effectively made it a “pay to play” social media platform. What this means is that most of your fans won’t see your posts unless you pay to promote it. Instagram in comparison doesn’t cost you a cent (unless you pay for advertising) and you reach a higher number of your followers.

Benefit to your business: It is a cost-effective way to market your business and you can expect a higher proportion of your Instagram followers to see your Instagram posts.

Stat #3: Gives you a competitive advantage.

Let’s face it, Facebook is the big kid on the block so to speak. It has been around for a while. It has the highest number of social media users and there are many businesses devoting their resources trying to capture the attention of these Facebook users.

Basically, there’s more business competition on Facebook.

However Instagram is the new kid on the block. Over the last two years, the average engagement per post has increased to a whopping 416%. And with 300 million users and a projected worldwide revenue of nearly 3 billion, analysts are encouraging more businesses to use it.

As it’s still relatively new compared to Facebook and Twitter, being an early adopter gives you an advantage because there’s less business competition.

Benefit to your business: Using Instagram to engage with your audience will help you stand out from the crowd and make your brand more memorable than  If marketing is about differentiating your brand from competitors, Instagram marketing will help you do this.
