Are You Programming Yourself For What You Want…or Don’t Want?

Business Consulting & Coaching

Whether you are aware of it or not, every moment of every day, with every thought and feeling you have, you are programming yourself.

Consider for a moment what you’ve been thinking or feeling about already today… whatever you were focussing on is on it’s way. (‘Oops!’ or ‘Yay!’ ?)

So were you focussed on that potential client eagerly saying yes, or were you thinking about rejection?  How many times have you told yourself you are tired?  Have too much to do?  How many times have you felt overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated or sad? Did you replay that fight in your head again?  Or prepare yourself for attack – either on the defensive or counter-attack?

That awareness you are self-programming with every thought and feeling is your first step to taking back control and steering your ship of life to where you actually want to go.

Below are some common things you might be saying to yourself, and some replacement affirmations from Wayne Dyer’s book “Excuses Begone!” to correct your course.

I don’t have the energy.  “I feel passionately about my life, and this passion fills me with excitement and energy.”

I’m too busy.  “As I unclutter my life, I free myself to answer the callings of my soul.”

There will be a family drama.  “I would rather be loathed for who I am than loved for who I am not.”

I can’t afford it.  “I am connected to an unlimited source of abundance.”

I’m too scared.  “I can accomplish anything I put my mind to, because I know I am never alone.”

Feel free to change the affirmations to your language, as long as the language is positive and focussed firmly on what you DO want, not what you don’t.  e.g. Rather than “My family won’t make a fuss.” use “It’s my life, my choice. I am an adult now. Being fulfilled and happy energises me, and everyone will benefit from that as well.”

The key is in being aware, of noticing negative self-talk, and GENTLY correcting it, consistently.  “Whoa, stop.  What I actually mean is……”  If you punish yourself for noticing your slip up, you’ll stop being aware.  Feel pleased you noticed, and gently re-program yourself.  It’s not an overnight miracle, but day by day it will impact your life more than you can currently imagine.

Have fun with this, and if you need help, please ask for it. You are allowed. You are worth it.
