I Don’t Have Time To Publish a Book!

The key to any new project is to prioritise its importance.

There are times in our lives when we really don’t have time to take on a new project. If this is the case for you right now, it’s probably best to put your book on hold.

However, if you’re really keen to get your book done as soon as possible, there are plenty of things you can do to help you find the time.

Here are a couple of my top tips:

Prioritise writing. Writing a book might mean that you have to give up watching your favourite television show or miss out on catching up with a friend for coffee. Think about the things you do that are non-essential and use that time to work on your book.

Use any spare moment. You can get a lot done by jotting down a few ideas while you’re on public transport, or waiting in line.

Use what you’ve already got. Print out what you’ve already written and start sorting into subject piles. You may be pleasantly surprised to find that you already have the basis for a book. Or even two!

Use dictation or recordings. Some people find it quicker and more efficient to record themselves speaking and then have the words transcribed. That way all you have to do is start talking!

Outsource. If you have the budget, maybe you can get someone else to edit your ideas or even write the book for you. Or employ someone to do some of the other jobs that take up your valuable time.

Schedule time. Some people benefit from allocating a set time each day to work on their book. Try to make it a time that you can stick to every day such as first thing in the morning or just before bed.

Beware of time-wasters. You know what I’m talking about… surfing the ‘net, social media, the usual culprits. This time could be better spent on your book.

Whatever you do, if it’s really important to you to write a book, you will find the time!
