How to Protect Your Business and Unique Ideas
Karan White, Business Director, Pod Legal Pty Ltd
Before you can value your assets, you must identify them. When it comes to tangible property, this is easy. However, can you identify the intangible assets of your business? This can be more difficult, and because it is, business owners may sometimes be unaware that they own valuable intellectual property assets.
Your business’s intellectual property is comprised of your business name and logo, overall look and feel, know-how and procedures, business models and marketing plans and even information relating to your customers. In short, your business’s intellectual property is your business’s competitive edge, which sets it apart from other traders in your industry. Therefore, protecting your intellectual property assets is essential to protecting your business interests.
In this ‘Identifying and Valuing Your Intellectual Property’ workshop, you will learn that the most important and valuable asset of any business is often its intellectual property. Karan will outline the basics of intellectual property, help you to identify your most valuable business assets, and help you maximise their value. In this workshop, she draws on the experiences of her specialised legal team, as well as fellow business owners, and provides you with practical tips and strategies that you can apply to your business immediately.
