Top 6 Low Cost Tips for Improving Your Bottom Line
Find out who your customers are and what turns them on.
Many businesses think they know who their customers are and the reasons why they buy their products and services. But, unless you research them and find out as much about them as possible and what they think about your business, you’ll never really know.
Take a good hard look at your communications and marketing materials.
Are they doing what they’re meant to?
Do the key sales messages reflect what your customers say when you ask them why they’ve used your services?
Does your corporate image and identity reflect the essence of what you’re about?
Do you have a short concise statement that accurately communicates to potential customers what it is that you do?
Are you selling into your customers’ specific needs?
Talk to the people who pay you.
The old adage that 80% of your business comes from 20% of customers is true. Why not kick off your marketing activities with your existing and most precious current customers?
Track and measure your marketing performance.
A simple ‘tick-sheet’ used by your sales reps or staff asking “how did you find out about us?” will suffice as a low-cost survey and will track how effective your different marketing spends are performing.
Are you throwing money away?
Are you allocating your promotional budget to the right areas or could you be spending your money better? Figure out where you’re getting the most leads from and whether these result in real sales.
Are you doing enough bragging?
If you’re too busy working in the business rather than on the business, you’re probably missing out on countless opportunities to meet potential new customers and forming strategic alliances with like-minded people and suppliers. Make an effort to get out of the office to attend networking events like those run by Women’s Network Australia, that allow you to learn from your peers and talk to others about your business.
