Tell us about your current position or business:
I'm a counsellor, coach and psychotherapist in private practice. I'm also a writer and facilitator. In my private practice I work with individuals and couples. As a facilitator I run The Soulful Woman Regenerative Retreats and Workshops with colleague and WNA Member, Shushann Movsessian. We're extremely excited about our Bali Women's Retreats and see a real need for busy women to get away and refresh themselves on a body, mind and spirit level. More info at: Good Mind
What's been your most outstanding career/business achievement?
Getting my doctoral degree in social psychology and conflict resolution is a highlight. It lead to my publishing: How to Get What You Want Without Losing It: A Woman's Guide to Conflict Resolution. This is now available as an e-book called: Resolving Your Conflicts with Power and Grace: A Woman's Guide to Conflict Resolution. These days I'm in love with running women's regenerative workshops and retreats with colleague Shushann Movsessian. Join us in Bali for our fabulous 6-night retreat.
What are your top 3 networking tips?
n Make it personal: Don't sell, connect. Get to know people's stories and share your own. Women especially love connecting. n Be accessible: Make sure others can find, see and talk to you - be visible and available. n Be authentic: Be yourself and see the good in the others. Serve from the heart, as well as from the head.
What's been your most successful marketing or career progression strategy?
Having a website is definitely a must these days and allows you to communicate directly with your audience. Overall, writing has been the best career progression strategy for me. I wrote The Coaching Column for The Age for a year and that was a real confidence booster for me. I landed that job after writing: How to Get What You Want Without Losing It: A Woman's Guide to Conflict Resolution. A woman from The Age heard me being interviewed on ABC Radio National and offered me the newspaper column. Delivering a good service is the heart of the matter and provides you with that invaluable word-of-mouth advertising, at no cost to you.
What can't you live without?
The friendship and support of other women. They are an enduring source of inspiration, courage and information, not to mention fun and joy. Also, I can't live without my inner work practices of meditation, writing and self-coaching. These daily practices keep me moving forward on my path and empower me to reach my goals.
What value and benefit have you or your business gained by being a WNA Member?
I've gained tremendously from the wonderful energy, creativity and love what I experience at WNA events, not to mention the outpouring of generosity of WNA Members at the Christmas luncheons. Mostly, it's the inspiration of seeing other women out there and doing it. It's a new era of female-led business and entrepreneurial vision.
