Kylee Bristow | Owner | Lexi Corporate Publishing
Tell us about your business:
I'm the owner of 'Lexi Corporate Publishing', a Brisbane-based publishing and training business. I help organisations produce and improve their written material including reports, web content, fundraising material and more. Organisations choose from three different services - the publishing service (writing, editing, design); one-on-one consulting, after which I provide a report on how they can improve their material to achieve their goals; and in-house training for staff who write as part of their job.
Find out more about my business.
What's been your most outstanding business achievement?
Making the decision to leave employment and build the business full time. Best decision I ever made.
What are your top 3 networking tips?
Enjoy it! The more people you know, the more interesting life is.
Know your elevator pitch - you need to be able to communicate what you do quickly, clearly and confidently.
Have business cards on you at all times.
What's been your most successful marketing or career progression strategy?
Building alliances with other businesses in the publishing area, especially designers. We refer potential clients to each other, pass on projects that aren't our core business and work together on projects that require more hands or skills.
What can't you live without?
In business, the internet and Icebreak coffee. In life, my son.
What value and benefit have you and your business gained by being a WNA Member?
Access to the services and advice of so many talented women, and the chance to make real connections. I rang a business in Perth about something and the female owner saw the WNA logo on my website. It turned out she was a member too! It was nice to chat with her for a bit and that's what it's all about.
