Need New Content – Try the three R’s not the arrrhhhs
Time to create some new content…
You check your content calendar, its blank.
You look at your word document, its blank.
And, you guessed it, as you sit and ponder you realise your mind is also, blank.
So what do you do?
Try the three R’s of content marketing.
They are Recycle, Reuse and Repurpose.
Yes, it’s time to get creative, without going out of your mind.
Have a look through the content that you have already produced, which pieces could you Reuse?
Is there a piece of content that could do with an update, it may be that you have written about a topic that has been subject to industry changes, could you dust off a piece like this and Recycle it with new and/or up to date information?
Then we come to Repurpose. Repurpose is my favourite.
Have a look through your content, which pieces, particularly older but still relevant pieces of written material can be repurposed. Repurposing means to change them into a different format.
Can they be converted into a more visual format such as PowerPoint or a LinkedIn Slideshare presentation? Maybe they are suitable to be converted to an infographic image, there is some great free software online such as Canva or Vennage that help you create infographic images.
Could the material be repurposed as video content? “How to” style content particularly lends itself to video, however, most content can be turned into a video. Or if you are a little shy of video, consider creating a podcast. Podcasts can be created easily using audio software that is usually already installed on computers or check online for audio software, there are both free and paid options.
Another great way to repurpose content is to create an e-book. Gather together tips or information from your already created written content and compile them into an e-book. You could make this freely available or even sell it.
So, next time you are stuck for new content, don’t stress, relax and remember the three R’s.
