Five Tips To Getting More Creative With Your PR

Public Relations & Media Services

Do you struggle to come up with interesting ideas you can use for blog posts, article topics or to pitch to journalists?

It can be very easy to find yourself in a creative black hole where you find yourself either lost for ideas or writing the same thing over and over again.

If you ever find yourself in a situation where you’re spending valuable time and coming up with mediocre to no ideas, then it’s time to re-evaluate your PR routine.

In this competitive environment, coming up with new ideas and concepts for your PR strategy can help you stand out and be heard.

Here are five tips on how to be more creative and imaginative in your PR activities:

  1. Visualisation

Research shows that just imagining something can have the same effect as actually doing it. For instance, there is a place in my mind where I can go in an instant. It’s filled with butterflies, a waterfall and healing water. This place doesn’t exist in reality, only in my imagination. I’ve practised visualising it so many times just thinking about it calms me when I’m stressed.

  1. Think outside the box

One reason that you may be running out of ideas for blog posts, articles or media pitching is that you are stuck in a frame of mind that restricts your thinking. By thinking creatively and outside the box, your imagination is open to new ideas and opportunities.

  1. Find your quiet space

Don’t underestimate the power of silence – it can give you space to let your creative thinking run wild. Find a quiet space and try sitting for an hour or so, just in your thoughts. Whatever comes to mind.

  1. Try new things regularly

When was the last time you tried something new, whether it’s an activity you’ve never done before or even something you’ve never tasted. Experimentation can lead to new thoughts.

  1. Get arty

Doing art that is more about play than perfection can have a profound effect on your ability to think creatively. Get a colouring in book, try sculpture, painting or drawing – whatever it is don’t focus on perfecting it, have fun instead.

Start imagining and let your creative side ignite. Being more creative and thinking outside the box can help you and your business stand out against your competitors.

As Albert Einstein said, “Imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
