My MBA Journey – Mariam Elliott
With immense pride and gratitude, I am honoured to share that I have successfully completed “Master of Business Administration” (MBA) qualifications, specialising in Leadership and Strategy, from both of Rome Business School and Valencia International University.
This achievement represents far more than academic success. It reflects discipline, resilience, growth, and a commitment to continuous excellence. These qualifications have strengthened my strategic thinking, raised my leadership, and expanded my expertise in organisational development, innovation, business planning, and international engagement.
The journey has enabled me to combine years of lived experience, cultural intelligence, and professional leadership with advanced knowledge of global business. As the Founder of M.E.C.C.A. (Middle East Connect & Cultural Advisors), this accomplishment further strengthens my ability to lead with confidence, provide high-level strategic and cultural advisory services, and contribute meaningfully to international business relationships between Australia and the Middle East.
One conversation changed everything. I was speaking with one of Women’s Network Australia’s Ambassador, Joanne Brooks, who mentioned that WNA offered the MBA on a partial scholarship. That moment became a turning point in my life and career. I embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly and never looked back.
During the 16 months of my MBA, which was basically all about Middle East Connect & Cultural Advisors, it opened my mind on where I could do better for my business, I immersed myself fully in the experience.
I genuinely looked forward to every subject, every challenge, and every discussion. Even during the short breaks between terms, I found myself missing the learning environment, something I never imagined I would ever say about studying.
This MBA journey transformed me both professionally and personally. It strengthened my confidence, sharpened my decision-making abilities, refined my strategic leadership skills, and reinforced the value of lifelong learning. Most importantly, it validated that experience combined with education creates a powerful foundation for impactful leadership.
I am deeply grateful to Women’s Network Australia, Joanne Brooks, (who was always a phone-call away when I needed her help), my lecturers, mentors, colleagues, family, and everyone who supported and encouraged me throughout this journey.
This is not the end of the journey — it is the beginning of an even greater one.
