How To Create An Effective Instagram Profile

When setting up an Instagram account for your business, it pays to do it right the first time so that you’re maximising effectiveness from day one.

So here are 5 proven ways to create an Instagram profile that improves brand awareness and increases customer engagement:

1. Use your business as your Instagram username/handle.

This seems pretty simple but you’ll be amazed how many brands still make the mistake of not using the complete name of their business making it more difficult for customers to find them. By using your entire business name as your Instagram username, users will be more likely to recognise you.

2. Enter your business name into the “name” section.

This is not the same as your Instagram username/handle. In the description section in your settings, it is the section underneath your username name. Some brands mistakenly put the name of the founder in there. Don’t do this as this can confuse customers. I suggest your business name for further brand impact.

3. Don’t forget to add your website link to your Instagram bio.

Instagram also has a section where you can enter your website URL; so make sure that you add it in. Adding your business website link will make it easy for followers to browse/shop because if they like what they see on your profile, they can click the link to be immediately directed to your website.

4. Post high quality images and videos.

Instagram is a photo sharing app so attractive, relatable or aspirational visual content is key to getting more likes and followers. Remember to post content that is relevant to your brand and niche industry and pay particular attention to pixels, lighting, filters, composition and quality of photos and videos.

5. Don’t forget to use hashtags.

I mentioned this in my previous post but I think it is worthwhile mentioning it again as it is one of the quickest ways to increase brand awareness: use hashtags! Make sure to use as many relevant hashtags as you can squeeze in (this can be up to 30 hashtags) as doing increases the chances of your Instagram profile being discovered as people often use hashtags to search for relevant images.
